About Ms. Davidson

Ms. Karen Davidson is a native of the Greater Sacramento Area. She is a graduate of Del Campo High School. After graduating from high school, she attended American River College (ARC) where she earned her associate’s degrees in music and liberal arts. While attending ARC, Ms. Davidson won the concerto competition and was honored with performing the Beethoven Horn Sonata accompanied by the ARC Symphonic Band. Ms. Davidson continued her music education at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS), where she studied under Professor Peter Nowlen- world renowned hornist. During her years at CSUS, she was honored with playing principle horn for the CSUS Symphonic in their Carnegie Hall performance in 2004. In addition, she was the recipient of the Liberace Quintet Scholarship for two consecutive years; an honor only bestowed on the top five musicians of their instrument. Ms. Davidson earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education and Performance from CSUS.

 

Ms. Davidson has been teaching in the San Juan Unified School District (SJUSD) for nearly 20 years. After teaching before and after school band programs at the elementary level for 10 years, Ms. Davidson earned her teaching credential through San Joaquin Teachers College and began teaching at the secondary level in the SJUSD. She currently teaches at Pasteur Middle School and Casa Roble High School; where she teaches traditional choir, glee choir, music appreciation, concert band, and pep band.

 

In addition, Ms. Davidson is currently a graduate student with the American Band College of Central Washington University in pursuit of her Master’s in Music Education. She has just completed her first summer session and plans to graduate with the other spectacular band students in the ABC class of 2021.

 

When outside of school and not working on lesson plans, Ms. Davidson spends her time playing with her children outside riding bikes, taking walks, or kayaking, as well as, lots of time with them indoors playing board games, watching movies, reading books, and playing an assortment of instruments around the house. Ms. Davidson is an active musician and plays french horn in many different community ensembles such as: The Auburn Symphony, The Folsom Symphony, Green Valley Theater Company, River City Theater Company, Rocklin Theater Company, The Sierra Nevada Winds, and many others.
